Dato’ Sri Jessy Lai and China Press Settle Defamation Claims Out of Court

Mon Space (M) Sdn Bhd and its founder and CEO, Dato’ Sri Jessy Lai, filed a joint complaint against China Press for defamation. The lawsuit has been resolved amicably this morning.

The case stemmed from a news report published in China Press on July 26, 2018, which mentioned a raid on Monspace by the KPDNKK.

Monspace and Dato Sri Jessy were deeply dissatisfied with reports made by China Press, especially the report about a raid on July 26, 2018; as well as the report and comments on Lai’s press conference on July 28, 2018. Following these incidents, Lai brought a lawsuit against China Press and its Editor in Chief to the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

For the inconvenience caused to Lai, China Press has expressed regrets.

Lawyers representing both parties have come to an amicable agreement this morning at the high court, witnessed by judge. The lawsuit has since been withdrawn, and the incurred costs will be borne by respective parties.
